Cheap unsupportive 'pleather' like crappy overpriced shoes from china : Aetrex Men's G501 Plain Toe Oxford,Brown,11 W US

I ordered these shoes thinking that they would be good for my wide, overpronating feet and custom orthotics. I opened the box and took the sole of the shoe to twist it a bit. Twisting the shoe can help determine how supportive the shoe will be. If it twists very little then it is a supportive shoe, according to the guy who makes my orthotics. If it twists alot, then they are not good at all. These things twisted a bunch. I tried them on, and I immediately knew that these would not work for me. They actually have no support at all, which is sad because that is what they are marketed for. And they are butt ugly. If you are in the market for supportive shoes, I have done all of the homework for you. PW minor lord pillow backs are awesome, but they last for a very short period of time (soft leather) and they are expensive. The next best thing for a fraction of the cost are Die Hard 'suretrack' black work boots or Die Hard black oxfords from Sears, believe it or not.

I have tricky needs- I need a lot of cushion in the sole, but I also need a lot of support. From Sears, both the oxfords and the black 'suretrack' work boots are very supportive. They both have steel shenks, which usually can only be found in much more expensive shoes. They take a while to break in, and they weigh much more than the Pw minors, but they are almost as comfortable. The suretrack boots have a little more cushion to them than the die hard oxford shoes. But the shoes are fine as well. I have had these for over 3 months, and they are showing no signs of breaking down. She soles don't have and wear on the outside of the heel. Neither of these shoes are 'turning out' at the heel, like usually happens very quickly with any shoe for me. The oxfords are kind of stiff at first, but they break in nicely. Best part about it- if you wait for a sale, which is every other week, these things can be had for $50 a pair. I have a feeling that they will last for a long time. I wear the boots and the shoes with dress pants and a shirt and tie, and they are not that bad looking.

I have been searching for good shoes for years. I work on a hard hospital floor all day. And I am on my feet all day. The die hard shoes are decent. And the price makes it a lot easier. I have tried every thing that you can imagine (Clarks, NB walking, Johnson and Murphy, Pw minor, Allen Edmonds, Red Wing, etc..) I would have paid any amount to releive my problems (over pronating, orthotics, hip/back pain from a leg length discrepancy). And it is funny that the most reasonable (though not perfect) solution can be had for pennies at good old Sears. If you can live with a slightly more casual look, and you are more concerned with comfort/support than style then the die hards are definitely worth a try. The boots are made very well but they are a little heavy. The boots look great with a pair of jeans. And the oxfords look 'acceptable' as well. The oxfords have stiffer soles than the boots. If you order them, I would go down a half a size because they run a little big. If you don't like them just take them with your receipt to the local sears and they will refund your money.

Don't waste your time on the Aetrex crappy shoes, in my honest opinion. Almost any thing else would be better.
